David Upton

David joined Birketts as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2023.

Yet to specialise, he is currently in his final seat, which is in Property Litigation in the Ipswich office.

Day to day, David assists with a wide range of matters, including pre-contentious work and commercial and residential property disputes. David has previously held seats in the SIPPS/SSAS Team, the Property Litigation Team and the Charities Team.

Experience & education

Prior to joining Birketts, David studied English and Theatre at the University of Sheffield where he was awarded a 2:1 degree. David then helped launch a local micro-brewery in Suffolk, which he subsequently ran for six years.

After leaving the brewery, David returned to education to study a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) at the University of Law, which he passed with Distinction. He has since completed a Masters in Law, which he passed with Distinction and was awarded the Dean’s Award for Best Overall Performance in his cohort. David also passed both the SQE1 and SQE2 on his first attempts scoring in the top quintile of his cohort for each.
