The Corporate Team at Birketts has advised the shareholders of Keatons Group Limited on the sale of the company to Dexters.
Founded in 1995, Keatons is an independent estate agency with seven offices across east London, and the south east and north west of the capital. Dexters, one of London’s largest estate agents, has over 40 offices in central London and 80 across the entirety of the city.
Birketts provided full legal support to Keatons on the deal, which completed ahead of the BADR tax relief deadline and was turned around in under 12 weeks.
The Birketts Team was led by Matthew Miles (Partner, Corporate) and supported by Harry Close (Solicitor, Corporate), Alicia Baute (Trainee Solicitor, Corporate), Charlotte Sloan (Legal Director, Employment), George Hull (Trainee Solicitor, Employment), Karl Pocock (Partner, Corporate Tax), Emma Nel (Solicitor, Corporate Tax) and Mark Walkington (Partner, Commercial Real Estate).
Kye Wheatley, Founding Partner at Keatons, says: “We are delighted that Keatons is now part of Dexters, London’s leading independent estate agency. Getting the deal completed quickly was a big objective for us, so it was important that we had the right legal team on board, and Birketts definitely delivered.”
Matthew Miles, Partner at Birketts, added: “Having worked with Keatons on various acquisitions over a number of years, we were delighted to accept instructions to act on the sale of the company. Achieving completion in less than a month from the signing of Heads of Terms is an amazing compliment to all involved in the transaction.”
Birketts worked with Atomic Consultancy, one of the UK’s leading specialists in estate and lettings agency sales, on the transaction.
